During National Volunteer Week, the President's Volunteer Service Award was given to 4 READ/OC volunteers for their volunteer service. At the Spring Fling event Marcia Tungate presented Mary Beth Griffin (left), Vaughan Hedges, Linda Kricfalusi, Leslie Yamaguchi and Sandy Hague (no photo available) each received a signed letter from the President of the United States, a personalized certificate and an official lapel pin. The President's Volunteer Service Award is the most prestigious volunteer Award currently associated with the White House. Mary Beth reminded us that literacy is "one of the backbones of our community. You need reading for work. You need it for your children and to be part of the community."
